At Smart Scan Medical Imaging, we work in collaboration with The Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin (OIW) to provide high-quality, accessible imaging services within the OIW facility. This clinical relationship allows patients to benefit from OIW’s trusted orthopedic care alongside Smart Scan’s advanced diagnostic technology and radiology expertise—all in one convenient location.

How Billing Works

Depending on your insurance coverage, you may receive either one bill or two after your visit:

  • For Medicare, Medicaid, and other government-sponsored insurance plans: You’ll receive two separate bills—one from Diaspora Radiology for professional radiology services (such as your scan interpretation), and one from OIW for the technical services (use of imaging equipment and facility resources).
  • For all other insurance plans: You’ll receive a single, all-inclusive bill covering both professional and technical components.

Note: If you receive a bill from Diaspora Radiology, that’s us. Diaspora Radiology is the professional medical group that provides radiology readings at all Smart Scan locations.

Medicare Disclosure

In accordance with CMS guidelines, we want to inform you that your referring physician may have a financial interest in this imaging center.
As a patient, you always have the right to choose where your imaging services are performed.
